What the extension does

Maps Corrector is a browser extension that replaces two place names on Google Maps — “Gulf of America” with “Gulf of Mexico”, and “Lake America” with “Lake Ontario” — in the page text and as an overlay label drawn on the map. That is its only function.

What data we collect

None. The extension does not collect, record, transmit, or retain any information about you or your browsing. It has no server, no database and no analytics. Nothing leaves your browser, because the extension never makes a network request.

What it can access, and why

The extension declares no browser permissions at all. It registers a content script that runs on Google Maps addresses only — google.com/maps and the equivalent Google country domains. That access is required for the one thing it does: find those two names in the page and correct them.

It does not read, access or run on any other website. It does not access your browsing history, bookmarks, saved passwords, downloads, location, or any other browser data.

Storage

The extension stores nothing. It has no settings to save — its options page is a description of what it does, not a form. It does not use browser storage, cookies, or any other persistence mechanism.

Third parties

There are none. No third-party code, libraries, services or SDKs are bundled or contacted. Because no data is collected, no data can be sold, shared or transferred, and none is used for advertising, credit assessment, or any purpose unrelated to correcting those two place names.

Using Google Maps is of course still subject to Google's own privacy policy. This extension has no relationship with, and is not endorsed by, Google.

Children

The extension collects no data from anyone, of any age.

Changes

If a future version changes what the extension accesses or stores, this page will be updated before that version is published, and the effective date above will change with it.
