ABOUT PUNK SCIENCE

The History of the Name

Punk Science Studios was a boutique video game studio founded by Darryl Wright in 2015. It ran and grew successfully for a couple of years before the team moved on to become Gogii Lighthouse Games in 2017, an offshoot of a Moncton-based company. Darryl subsequently left Gogii around 2020. The name "Punk Science" was chosen to reflect the irrevernt DIY nature of Punk Music and the methodical, engineering of science to game development. While the company remains dormant, Darryl (who formerly used the DJ names "DJ 9to5" and "Subtrack" when he re-emerged in the 2010s) decided to use it as a new DJ handle going forward.

This project embodies the spirit of both movements: the DIY punk philosophy of creating without permission, and the scientific method of hypothesis, experimentation, and iteration. Each mix is both an act of rebellion against the mainstream and a carefully crafted experiment in frequency, rhythm, and emotional resonance.
